Lo, I have become as a god, for I have the power of pie.
I made a pumpkin pie with no pumpkins. Okay, actually, it was a winter Delicata squash pie. It is also the first pie I have ever successfully made, completely from scratch (all local, etc ingredients, too). It is delicious. Really delicious.
You may call me the piemaster, for I am the master of pie.

- Ben is a smart guy who cares about things that are sometimes strange to me. Mostly software. Code monkey make good blog.
- If you've ever liked Ben Stein, you're in for an ugly surprise. Sorry, fans of "Win Ben Stein's Money," but it turns out he's not such a bright guy after all.
- Warren Ellis is a brutal genius of words and probably anger management issues. Or maybe that's just his characters? I don't know. Anyway, he writes the best comic books. Period.
- This was my undergraduate honors thesis on teaching evolutionary biology through the history of the science. It's relatively unpolished, but I think the core notion is solid and someday soon I'd like to revisit it.
- This is my local rational organization. They're pretty cool, although many of them are older and their events are generally expensive.
- These guys have some pretty danged important things to say about environmentalism, politics, and generally why we're all going about it wrong.
- The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe. Regardless of what you think of the name, this is my favorite podcast and well worth the listen. Check out the site too!
- The Public Library of Science makes me so excited it's almost obscene. Seriously, this is really, really cool. Free reputable peer-reviewed scientific journals. I wish I could marry you, internet.
- The Encyclopedia of Life has so much potential I can hardly begin to describe it. Imagine a scientifically-reviewed Wiki for every living thing, and... well, that's actually pretty much what it is.
- This wouldn't be complete without throwing out a link to the greatest punk act in history.
- UW Oceanography. Maybe if I link to them, they'll let me in. Please? Guys? Come on. I just want to study hydrothermal vent extremophile ecosystems.
- And that means I also have to give props to my oceanographic "hometown," the UT Marine Science Institute.
- Are you excited about solar power? Me too. So's my uncle Billy Stanbery.
- I am fortunate enough to live in what has to be the absolute coolest neighborhood in the whole damn world. Our neighborhood association runs everything from a farmers' market to beer tastings to green home improvement seminars. Wicked cool.
